Putin judged, rightly, that information warfare was a cheap, low-risk way of attacking a vulnerable adversary by taking advantage of right wing conspiracy theories; that a wilderness of mirrors would provide endless fodder for the left to take part in conspiracy theories; that America's partisan polarization, media decay, and ossified institutions would render the nation unable to cope. Meanwhile, off the top of my head I can name a dozen "independent voices" that belong to the Kremlin. The propaganda game is far older than any of us, or of these publishing platforms we think so novel.
I'm subscribing BECAUSE of this post. It is always such a relief when someone speaks the truth, something utterly lacking in my society whose foundation is falsehood. As Caitlin Johnstone says, "You lie and lie and lie and then wonder why people don't believe that covid is serious."
