The tech sector is deskilling generation after generation and enabling a narrowly-educated elite to separate themselves from the mass of humanity to an exponentially greater extent than in the past, with predictably lamentable results. Can we take collective action to put a stop to or control developments that are being done just because they can or will we be ever at the mercy of those who are arrogant enough to believe themselves the masters of mankind? It seems that in every case the answer turns out to be no as even the ethicists, when they weigh in at all, are seduced by it all, in medicine, in scientific research, in production of weaponry and poison substances for war making, in education, philosophy, politics, whatever. We are in thrall to the siren call of power and money. Not everyone is equally guilty. There are many more victims than perpetrators but we can't seem to agree enough to take collective action for the common good. It's not the way we are made.
Idea: have some standards in education again
