Until the UN Security Council is reformed ie getting rid of the Veto and its small grouo of permanent members nothing will be achieved for Palestinians. It is the power of the Veto that jas given Israel the impunity it enjoys.
Dear Bill and Jeffrey - thank you for your insights.
However the mantra of the two-state solution is unhelpful: it is the cause of the conflict as history shows us. Partition in the context of settler colonialism has a name: it is called apartheid. Its purpose was to engineer a racial-ethnic demographic majority where it didn’t exist before. Israel is designated an apartheid state by all key international and Israeli human rights bodies - more apartheid cannot solve the apartheid problem. The decolonisation of Israel from its Zionist imposition is the starting point of a democratic Palestinian polity where Christians, Muslims and Jews live together as they did for most parts of history - except in Europe. No ethno-religion has exclusive rights to the Holy Land; and there is no need to indulge is false justifications that implies the legitimation of such claims.
The UN partition Resolution was passed prior to the decolonisation of Africa and Asia by only a handful of states - against the wishes of both the Arab majority and the indigenous Jewish minority - even the American President protested against the aggressive lobbying of European Zionists in this regard - Ilan PAPPE and other historians have documented this.
The habit of Western countries of either colonising or dumping their racist problems with Jews, Muslims, Palestinians, Blacks and Asians on the Rest of us is where the problem originates - Germany and Poland owes their Jewish citizens a part of Germany and Poland for the vile historical atrocities they committed - the Rest of us live quite happily with our fellow Jewish, Muslim and Asian citizens
